4th Annual K-12 Nanotechnology Teacher Conference at UNH, 4/9/08
Department of Physics and Materials Science Program, University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH, U.S.A.
In the quest of building smaller and smaller machines for technologies that might revolutionize medicine and engineering we are exploring new paths that have not been traveled before. A paradigm shift is upon us in which we replace classical manufacturing techniques, based on tools and hands, with processes in which nano-machines will built themselves - molecule-by-molecule. We will learn about 'directed self-assembly' and meet the instruments that make the discoveries of the new nano-world possible.
